Selma
``flesh me out
Name:
Nicknames:
Pronunciation: SELL-muh
Health Statues: healthy
Alliance: Vigilant
``under the skin
Years: 2.5
Gender: Female
Breed: Red Wolf
Appearance: Like most Red Wolves, Selma is lean and leggy. She is a bit on the tall side for a female, being about 29 inches in height. She is a faded reddish-dun color with darker tipped guardhairs on most of her body, with a black "cape" on the back and a cream-colored muzzle. Her fur is coarse, long, and thick on the flanks, tail and back; it is soft and sleeker on her legs. Selma's tail is long and black at the tip, and there are a few darker "barred" markings on her forelegs. She is light-colored on her forelegs, underside, and chest. Selma's ears are big, which is typical for red wolves, and her right ear has a few small nicks near the base due to a close brush with an infected wolf. She also possesses a scar above her left eye from the same incident. She has bright amber eyes that never seem to blink.
``inside my mind
Personality:The two words that would best describe her are "cheerfully sinister." She's incredibly fond of gallows humor and doesn't bat an eye at excessive bloodshed. Selma tends to come off as a bit sociopathic and others find her tendencies disturbing. She doesn't really take anything seriously and it takes a major kind of trauma to rattle her because of this. She is fond of playing tricks on others to frighten them, but nobody gets hurt... usually. Despite her fondness for morbid humor, she is quite happy (nearing the point of being overly so) most of the time. She is a bit too friendly and has little regard for personal space. There is basically no filter between her mouth and brain; she says what she pleases with no regard for what anyone else thinks. Most find her difficult to have as a friend, despite her trying to befriend almost everyone, because she comes across as offensive, invasive, and mildly insane. She enjoys annoying others for kicks. Selma is actually quite intelligent, despite not showcasing this trait often.
``origins
Parents: Her father and mother were Farinn and Morwen respectively.
Siblings: She had one surviving sister, Lovisa, who disappeared slightly before Selma left her pack of origin.
History: Selma was born in early spring, along with two brothers (one was stillborn and the other died shortly after birth) and two sisters, Hanna and Lovisa. Their parents were both loners and their extended family formed a sort of smaller renegade pack. Of her two sisters, Selma was closest to Hanna, and the two shared a very deep bond. This tie was suddenly and cruelly severed when Hanna was attacked and killed by an infected wolf, who then turned on Selma. The intruder would have surely killed Selma if not for Farinn, who avenged his daughter's murder by killing the stranger. Farinn was badly wounded in the process and went on to develop the infection. Morwen and her two remaining cubs fled before the disease could truly manifest itself. After many exhausting miles they came across a clearing in the middle of a dense deciduous forest. There they lived in peace for a few months, although they were all grieving for Hanna's death and Farinn's disease-driven madness. Selma, who had been the closest to Hanna, was the most affected.
This short time was interrupted by Farinn, who arrived at his mate and daughters' new home emaciated and in a rage. Now thoroughly consumed by the infection, he slaughtered Morwen and drove off Lovisa and Selma, who narrowly escaped. They found his dead body later, killed by another wolf.
To cope with the trauma, Selma unintentionally created a new "self", which is shown in her current personality. Lovisa left, and it is unknown whether she was infected or died. Selma, a haunted shell of what she had been, departed shortly after. After many months of wandering, she found the Vigilant pack, where she eventually made her home.
